VOCATIONS
|
Every Christian has the privilege in life to
know, love and serve God. Our own love for God is made real when we share
it with others. This is our vocation in life.
Living the life of a religious Brother is one of several ways of achieving
Christian maturity. The grace given by God to choose this life is called a
Religious Vocation. Our motto, "Charity Unlimited" is a calling
to love without end, even until it hurts, embracing those that others
avoid: the homeless, the abandoned, the orphaned, the disabled, the elderly
and people living with HIV/AIDS.
Bound by vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, the Brothers work
wherever they are needed in a spirit of joy and service.
Any mature men, widowers, as well as single men, who are of sound physical
and mental health may become a 'Little Brother.' The vocation counselor
will assist you with concerns you may have in this area.

COMMUNITY LIFE
|
|
Jesus is the master of community and it is His
presence which leads to the creation of Christian community. As Brothers of
the Good Shepherd, our founder left us a legacy of community that was open
to celebration and life.
The structure of community was built around Eucharist and Eucharistic and
Marian devotions. It was also enriched around meals where stories were
shared.
In community, we are called to live together, to work together, and to be
supportive of each other in various ministries. Our ministry affects our
community and our community affects our ministry. We endeavor to live out
our vowed life in a simple lifestyle.
From our founder, we have a sense of spontaneity; to respond to life as it
happens. We strive to enjoy life; to share a sense of humor; to be
respectful of each other; and to listen attentively as we encounter Christ
in one another.
